Hoskins attended the FA’s National Goalkeeping Conference where Premier League great Schmeichel was headline speaker on Sunday.
Schmeichel – who made more than 300 premier league appearances, and has five Premier League titles, three FA Cups, one UEFA Champions League and one UEFA European Championship to his name – gave an insightful talk about his glittering career and his thoughts on goalkeeper player development.
Hoskins learnt plenty of new things, which he hopes to put in place at our youth academy over the coming months.
He said: “Being able tap into the thoughts, beliefs and practices of some of the leading goalkeeping coaches, and legends, provided some interesting and thought-provoking messages that we will be looking to incorporate into the current goalkeeping provision at the Town academy.
“The conference offered a great insight to the evolving nature of the goalkeeping role, and how best to coach and prepare the modern goalkeeper.”
The event also featured presentations and technical demonstrations from Neil Moss and Anthony White, Head of and Assistant Goalkeeper coaches at AFC Bournemouth.
Danny Alcock, FA’s men’s national goalkeeper coach, Bobby White, national performance manager at England Handball, Mark Mason, the FA senior women’s GK coach, and Jen Herst, FA national goalkeeper coach and senior women’s goalkeeper coach at Everton FC, also all spoke at the event.
