Grimsby Town youth team are away at Burton Albion in the EFL North East Youth Alliance on Saturday (12pm).

Neil Woods’s side picked up their first win of the season as they beat Bradford City 2-1 at Cheapside last weekend, thanks to goals from Cameron Painter and Lennon Stead.

And the young Mariners will be hoping to kick on and make it two wins on the bounce as they face Burton Albion this weekend.

Forward Lennon Stead is in fine form for Town, having scored in his previous three matches for the Mariners – against Bradford City, Doncaster Rovers, and Lincoln City.

And he will be looking to continue that goalscoring run against the Brewers this weekend.

Burton finished sixth-place in the league last season – nine points behind champions Town, and they’ll be hoping to build on that this term.

But the Brewers are still a somewhat unknown quantity as they’re yet to play a league game in 2019-20 season – this weekend’s clash with Town will be their first match of the campaign.

And they will be hoping to start their season with a home victory against the Mariners on Saturday.

The other fixtures in the EFL North East Youth Alliance this weekend are: Bradford City v Chesterfield, Doncaster Rovers v Rotherham United, Mansfield Town v Lincoln City, and Scunthorpe United v Notts County.

After this weekend’s clash with the Brewers, Town welcome Chesterfield to Cheapside in the Youth Alliance Cup Group on Saturday, August 24 (11am).
