Grimsby Town U18s stretched their unbeaten EFL North East Youth Alliance run to five games as they beat Scunthorpe United 2-0 at Cheapside.
Rumarn Burrell struck before half-time and Conley Poynter scored in the last minute to secure all three points for Neil Woods' table-topping side.
Both sides observed a minute's silence for Scunthorpe United coach Kevin Austin who sadly passed away last week.
The young Mariners started with Ollie Battersby in goal, and a back four of Tom Jamieson, Mattie Pollock, Emil Powles, and Ollie Saunders.
Town's midfield five was Joe Starbuck (Luis Adlard 70'), Jock Curran, Kyle Richardson, Brandon Buckley (c), and Brandon McPherson (Poynter 60'), with Burrell as the lone striker.
The game started off evenly with both teams creating chances as Burrell and McPherson went close for Town.
Town broke the deadlock on 35 minutes as Burrell beat the pack line for pace and his deflected effort beat the goalkeeper to make it 1-0 to the Mariners.
The second half was tightly-contested - similar to the first half, with both sides having chances.
But Town finally sealed the victory in the 90th minute when Poynter latched onto Curran's through-ball, and placed it past the goalkeeper.
The young Mariners return to league action with a trip to Doncaster Rovers on Saturday, December 15 (11am).
