Grimsby Town youth team centre-half Mattie Pollock has been awarded with his The 11 certificate of achievement.
The defender was named among 11 young players recognised by the League Football Education (LFE) for their achievements on and off the pitch earlier this month.
The achievement came following Pollock signing a two-and-a-half-year professional deal with the Mariners last month, following his EFL debut in Town’s 2-1 win over Exeter City in December.
Pollock also captained the Mariners reserves in their Central League fixture with Rotherham United at Cheapside on Tuesday.
The 11’ acknowledges the football and academic progress of under-18 players on apprenticeships at current or former English Football League (EFL) clubs - and is also designed to assess other factors, including involvement in community or charity-based initiatives.
The 11 are: Dwight Pascal (Barnet), Luca Connell (Bolton Wanderers), Ethan Vale (Burton Albion), Ben Worman (Cambridge United), Mattie Pollock (Grimsby Town), Jack Gurney (Peterborough United), Jack Baxter (Preston North End), Angelo Capello (Sheffield United), and Charlie Jolley (Wigan Athletic).
